Awesome Kindle 2 Review!
By: Anne M. Alesauskas "love to read"
I recieved my Kindle Wireless Device 2 yesterday ( a day earlier than expected) and am so impressed! I didn't use the Kindle Wireless Device 1 so I don't have a comparison, but I do know that I love this version. First of all, I was ordered this for my birthday in January, but was bummed over the long delay in backorders, but am happy now for the wait, it was well worth it! I am not very technically inclined so new things often make me nervous.
I am an avid reader and really wanted this new gadget to wrok for me, so I took my time opening the fun packagaing and reading everything through before jumping in. I can say that this was truly the most rewarding new gadget experience that I have ever had! When it says plug it in and you're ready to go, that is just what happened!! I had ordered in advance a few books and they were there within 1 minute after turning it on and it was fully charged within 2 hours! I am loving the whole concept and read almost a whole book last night with no eye strain at all. My husband even thought it was really neat and easy to read. I am truly loving this new product!!
Review from librarian gadget man

An owner of the 1st Kindle Wireless Device (plus the Sony Reader 505), I went out and bought the newest model (and sold the other two on Ebay). Amazon has come out with a much, much nicer device this time around with appreciated improvements over the Kindle Wireless Device 1. The design is much, much better making the device easier to hold. The buttons have been made smaller, which fixed the large buttons on the Kindle Wireless Device 1 that made the device hard to hold and frustratingly easy to advance the page. The newest model looks like a iPod now, very slick and easy to use. The wireless is now turned on/off in device instead of having a separate switch.
Software improvements have been made to the device as well. The dictionary is now accessible on it's own, instead of only being accessible while in books. The dictionary, change text, and other options are given little unobtrusive pop up screens instead of the old device that would change the screen entirely to get to the dictionary and other options.
The text to speech feature is nice, but really for short sessions. Listening to a robo-voice to long periods might get annoying.
All in all, Amazon has a fantastic job this time around with this device.
